The Meyerhold Centre & vottebe
WHAT IS IT?
It is a collection of short theatre performances commissioned by The Performance Anthology. All of them are dealing with one and the same subject and get united in space and time once they are all presented one evening on The Meyerhold Centre stage.
Those with many years of theatre experience can participate in The Performance Anthology. Those who have so far made several shows, as well as theatre students and those who have not made a performance of their own yet - are also welcome to take part in the programme. There is one thing that unites all the participants – they do have something to say.
OUR SUGGESTIONS TO PARTICIPANTS
We suggest that our participants with the help of theatre instruments and stage performance discourse upon the notion of FREEDOM: what does this concept mean to them today?
Artists are free to form their creative teams, choose the text material (if necessary) and opt for a particular stylistics. We only just set up a subject and give the opportunity to show a piece of work on stage at a certain time.
The Performance Anthology as such is a round table, a platform for discussion in a theatre space. It is ideas presented speaking for us instead of us trying to express our opinions with the help of words.
WHERE DOES THE IDEA COME FROM
The idea was provoked by a great number of extremely different stylistics in contemporary theatre.
The main question for us and subject of our research is - what happens if people of different generations and schools meet up and talk about something particular, something major and significant for all times?
The Performance Anthology is going to be an answer.
The subject of our first Performance Anthology is FREEDOM.
